history

The castle was probably built around 1270 by the Lords of Ravensburg , a Würzburg ministerial family , and razed around 1310 on the instructions of the Würzburg bishop .

From the former castle complex, with a round donjon with a diameter of 12 meters in the northern corner, foundations, small remains of walls and wall remains have been preserved. The moat on the side facing away from the slope is still clearly visible.

The Burgstelle can be reached as follows: On the B 27 from Würzburg towards Karlstadt, then first exit to Thüngersheim, continue on the road towards Güntersleben, the journey goes up the mountain through the forest to a parking lot for hikers. From here cross the road and follow the forest path for about 1 km to the clearing of the Etzburg.
