Burkhard Kollmann

Burkhard Franz Kollmann (born September 14, 1960 in Münster ) is a German officer, Brigadier General of the Air Force of the Bundeswehr and since April 2020 Chief of Staff of the Bundeswehr Operations Command in Schwielowsee near Potsdam .

Military career

Training and first uses

Kollmann joined the German Armed Forces in 1980, and from 1980 to 1981 he trained as an officer at the Air Force officers' school in Fürstenfeldbruck . From 1981 to 1985 he studied electrical engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . After completing his studies, Kollmann completed his aviation training from 1985 to 1987 at Mather Air Force Base (near Sacramento , California ) in the United States and at the Tri-National Tornado Training Establishment at the RAF Cottesmore in Great Britain . From 1987 to 1993 he was employed as a weapons system officer in the 2nd Flying Squadron of Fighter Bomber Wing 31 "Boelcke" in Nörvenich and from 1993 to 1995 as a squadron commander of the same squadron. From 1995 to 1997 Kollmann completed the 41st general staff training course of the Air Force at the command and control academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg .

Service as a staff officer

The first assignment as a general staff officer led Kollmann from 1997 to 1999 as head of department at Department 3 of the 3rd Air Force Division in Berlin-Gatow . From 1999 to 2001 he was employed as a speaker in the Strategic Policy Section at SHAPE in Mons ( Belgium ). From 2001 to 2003, Kollmann was a consultant for international cooperation with the Air Force in the Air Force Command at the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn . Another ministerial assignment followed from 2003 to 2006 as a consultant for armaments matters Air Force in the office of State Secretary Peter Eickenboom in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin. From 2006 to 2009 Kollmann led the Commodore the Fighter Bomber Wing 32 in Lechfeld . After serving as commander, he became Executive Officer of Commander Allied Air Command Ramstein from 2009 to 2011 . Service as a general

To April 1, 2017 Kollmann was under promoted to Brigadier General, Director JFAC HQ ENG in the center of air operations in Kalkar and Deputy Commander Air and Space Operations Center in Uedem . This post rotated on November 9, 2018 and has been occupied by a Polish brigadier general ever since. Since then, Kollmann has been head of the Multinational Command Department at the Air Operations Center in Kalkar and the Combined Air Operations Center in Uedem, before moving to the Operations Command as Chief of Staff in April 2020.
