But We Try It ( spelling : ButWeTryIt ) is a German melodic death metal and metalcore band from Wuppertal that was founded in 2008.

history

The band was formed in early 2008 and released a first, self-titled demo the following year that contained six songs. The sound carrier was recorded and mixed in the Mad Max Studio in Wuppertal. In addition, the band held over 100 gigs together with Lazarus AD , Deadlock , The Sorrow , Cryptopsy , Hatesphere , The Ghost Inside and Suffokate . In January 2010 the group recorded their debut album Dead Lights at Woodhouse Studios in Hagen with producer Waldemar Sorychta . The album was mixed and mastered by Siggi Bemm . In the same year the band signed a contract with Massacre Records , about which the album was released in January 2011. The sound carrier received reviews in Metal Hammer and Rock Hard , among others . The release was followed by a tour with Illdisposed and Raunchy through Germany, Denmark , Italy and Austria . In November 2012, the band recorded their second album A Twisted Sanctuary under the direction of Dennis Koehne , who also mixed the album. Shortly before the planned album release in early July 2013, Firefield Records , the label to which the band was under contract, closed. After the band found a new label with Remedy Records , the album was released in early November 2013. In the August issue of Metal Hammer , the song Through the Peril could also be heard on the CD. In addition, the band went on tour with Raunchy in September and October through Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands , where both bands were supported by various other groups. In April 2014 followed a tour together with Facebreaker and Diabolical through Germany, Belgium , France and the Netherlands.

style

According to Christian Kruse from Metal Hammer , the band on Dead Lights moves between Swedish Melodic Death Metal and Metalcore bands like Neaera and Caliban . However, there is no melodic singing as in the last-named band, but powerful and aggressive guttural singing predominates. According to Manuel Liebler from Metal Hammer , A Twisted Sanctuary is a “battle between American brutality and Swedish melody”. The song Pretender to Your Throne is reminiscent of the in-flames album Reroute to Remain , the song Promises of Natural Born Chaos by Soilwork and Detachment of Children of Bodom in the middle of their creative phase. The lead guitar in the title track is reminiscent of Ensiferum .
