Butterfly Kiss (alternative title: Killer on the Road ) is a British thriller from 1995 . Directed by Michael Winterbottom , on whose idea Frank Cottrell Boyce wrote the script.

action

Eunice wanders through northern England looking for Judith, whom she says she loves. It turns out that Judith was invented by Eunice. Some women who disappoint Eunice by not being Judith are murdered.

Eunice gets to know Miriam, who takes her to their apartment. The women enter into a love affair. Miriam first helps Eunice to find Judith. She later notices Eunice's cruelty, which terrifies her. Nevertheless, she tries to influence Eunice in a mitigating manner. Instead, she is persuaded to kill herself.

Reviews

Edward Guthmann wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle of June 28, 1996 that Amanda Plummer was her strongest portrayal in this film. The script contains numerous psychological details and religious symbols.

The film service wrote that the film was “psychologically weakly motivated” and “just as brutal as it was implausible”. He varies "the 'serial killer' genre by two types of women". In the memory remains "only the outstanding acting skills of the leading actress".

Michael Winterbottom was nominated in 1995 for the Golden Bear of the Berlin International Film Festival , for the Golden Ear of the Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid Festival and for the European Film Prize. The film was nominated for the Bronze Horse of the Stockholm Film Festival in 1995.
