Cécile Schortmann (born April 11, 1971 in Düsseldorf ) is a German journalist and television presenter .

Life

Cécile Schortmann grew up in Düsseldorf . After graduating from high school , she studied theater studies , art history and psychology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and graduated with a master's degree . She also worked at the Residenztheater in Munich and did internships at Antenne Bayern , RTL Munich , Ostdeutscher Rundfunk Brandenburg and Deutsche Welle . In 1998/99 she completed a bi-medial traineeship at the Hessischer Rundfunk (hr) in Frankfurt am Main with a focus on the culture of hr television and radio .

Since 1999 Schortmann has been reporting on current, socio-political and cultural topics for hr television, also for ARD and arte. She also moderates the TV magazine Hauptsache Kultur and special programs on the Frankfurt Book Fair , documenta , the Rheingau Music Festival and the ARD broadcast of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade. From 2004 to 2008 she presented the hr broadcast Bilderbogen .

In 2008, ARD selected her as a presenter for the 3sat magazine Kulturzeit , as the successor to Gert Scobel . For 3sat she also reported on the Days of German-Language Literature in Klagenfurt (Ingeborg Bachmann Prize) and the Berlinale , she also leads panel discussions on a wide range of topics and has been moderating the award of the German Book Prize and the talk series of the DFG and the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn "Science on".

Cécile Schortmann volunteers as an ambassador for the Children's Future Foundation . She has three children and lives with her family in Frankfurt am Main.
