Calin Ioan Bot

Călin Ioan Bot (born July 24, 1970 in Surduc , Sălaj County , Romania ) is a Romanian clergyman and Romanian Greek Catholic auxiliary bishop in Lugoj .

Life

Călin Ioan Bot studied philosophy and Catholic theology from 1991 to 1995 at the Theological Faculty of St. John Evangelist , which is affiliated to the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca . He completed his studies with a degree in Catholic theology. Bot was August 15, 1995 by the Bishop of Cluj-Gherla , Gheorghe Gutiu , the deacon ordained. He received on 10 September 1995 Tihău by the Romanian Greek-Catholic Bishop of Oradea Mare , Vasile Hossu , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

From 1995 to 2000 Călin Ioan Bot worked as a training director at the Theological Faculty of St. John Evangelist . In 2003 he completed a seminary formator course at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . In 2005, Bot graduated from the same university with a degree in spirituality . From 2005 to 2017 Călin Ioan Bot Regens was at the Theological Seminary of St. John Evangelist in Cluj-Napoca. In 2017, Bot was appointed to the Protosynkellos of the Cluj-Gherla Eparchy.

The Synod of Bishops of the Romanian Greek Catholic Church elected Călin Ioan Bot as auxiliary bishop in Lugoj. Pope Francis confirmed this election on January 22, 2020 and appointed him titular bishop of Abrittum . The Major Archbishop of Fagaras and Alba Iulia , Lucian Mureşan Cardinal , gave him on 21 June of the same year in the Cathedral of Blaj the episcopal ordination ; Co -consecrators were the Romanian Greek Catholic Bishop of Lugoj, Alexandru Mesian , and the Curia Bishop in the Grand Archbishopric of Făgăraș and Alba Iulia, Claudiu-Lucian Pop .
