The workstation computers of the CBM-700 series from Commodore were brought onto the market in the early 1980s. The success of the home computer Commodore ( VC20 , C64 ) up rounding off with more convenient BASIC - programming language equipped, the computers of the 700 series were for more than a decade until the early 1990s important u. a. for control in laboratory automation due to its IEEE-488 interface.

In contrast to the CBM 500 and CBM 600 series , the CBM 700 series were delivered in a housing with an integrated monochrome screen with a 12 inch (30.5 cm) diagonal. As with these, the CBM disk drives continued to be used as mass storage .

In the CBM 730, an Intel 8088 processor with 4.77 MHz was integrated on the daughter board.

  • CBM 705 - 64 KB (low profile)
  • CBM 710 (Also B700 or CBM128-80) - 128 KB
  • CBM 720 (Also B700 / 256 or CBM256-80) - 256 KB
  • CBM 730 (Also CBMX256-80 or BX256) - 256 KB + daughter board
