After Uruguay had only led with one goal at halftime in their first game against Chile, they won the game 4-0. Piendibene and Gradín each scored two goals. Ten days later, the Urus played their second game against Brazil. They fell behind with a goal from Arthur Friedenreich in the eighth minute , but were able to equalize after one hour with the third goal of top scorer Gradín and thanks to Tognola scored the winning goal in the 77th minute. After winning two games, a draw in the last game against Argentina was enough for them to win the tournament, as the Argentines could only achieve one draw and one win, which meant they were one point behind. After a 0-0 draw, Uruguay became the first South American champions. This game was kicked off on July 16 like all the others in the Cancha de Gimnasia y Esgrima. But due to riots, it had to be canceled after five minutes and was continued one day later in the Cancha de Racing Club in the sixth minute.
