Player career

society

The tall Pacheco came from an influential family of the Uruguayan upper class. His father was Dr. Melchor Pacheco , who was a member of Peñarol's governing body from 1911. Pacheco was also the cousin of César Batlle Pachecos , the son of José Batlle y Ordóñez .

The Pacheco used in midfield as Half , who also stood out for his well-groomed full hair, played for Nacional at least from 1910 . There he was one of the leading heads of the aristocratic faction of the "Cuelludos" in an internal dispute that led to his leaving the club in the direction of the Bristol club .

He was a member of the Peñarols squad in the Primera División in 1916 and 1917 . While they were runner-up behind Nacional in the league in these two years, they won both the Copa Competencia and the Copa Competencia Internacional in 1916 . The Copa La Transatlántica (3-1 victory over Nacional on April 19, 1916 as part of the inauguration of Las Acacias ), the Copa Aniversario , the Copa Jockey Club and the Copa Club Uruguay also decided the Aurinegros in their favor that year, In 1917 they also got the upper hand at the Copa Albion .

Although Pacheco first moved to Buenos Aires in March 1918 , he returned to Peñarol for some important games in the 1918 season to contest them, but finally ended his career. In the following years he worked for more than 40 years as "consul" of the Montevidean association in the Argentine capital.

Sometimes Pacheco, who also acted as captain of the Aurinegros in 1917 , was called the best right half of the first amateur phase of Uruguayan football.

National team

Pacheco was also a member of the Uruguayan senior team and temporarily their captain. Overall, he completed from his debut on August 15, 1910 against the Argentine selection to his last game for the Celeste on October 14, 1917 28 internationals. He did not score a hit.

Pacheco took part with the national team in the South American Championships in 1916 (two games, no goal) and 1917 (three games, no goal). Uruguay won the title both times.

He also won the Copa Gran Premio de Honor Argentino in 1910, the Copa Lipton in 1910, 1911 and 1912 and the Copa Newton in 1912, 1913 and 1917 with the national team.
