Bishop Canísio Klaus

Canísio Klaus (born October 9, 1951 in Arroio do Meio , state of Rio Grande do Sul ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Sinop .

Life

Canísio Klaus was ordained a priest on December 28, 1979 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Coadjutor Bishop of Diamantino on April 22, 1998 . The bishop of Santa Cruz do Sul, Aloísio Sinésio Bohn , donated him episcopal ordination on June 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Gentil Delázari , Bishop of Sinop , and Paulo Antônio de Conto , Bishop of Criciúma . As a motto he chose Evangelizare misit me .

With the retirement of Agostinho Willy Kists SJ on August 26, 1998, he succeeded him in the office of Bishop of Diamantino. On May 19, 2010 he was by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Santa Cruz do Sul and installed on July 18 of the same year.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Sinop on January 20, 2016 .
