Capriano del Colle (wine)

The municipality of Capriano del Colle in the northern Italian province of Brescia ( Lombardy region ) gives its name to the Italian wine-growing region of the same name. The wines, which have had the status of a "controlled designation of origin " (" Denominazione di origine controllata " - DOC) since 1980 , are spread across the hills around the town. The denomination was last updated in 2014.

  • Capriano del Colle Bianco and Capriano del Colle Bianco Superiore - also as Frizzante ( sparkling wine ): consists of at least 60% Trebbiano di Soave or Trebbiano di Lugana and / or Trebbiano Toscano . A maximum of 40% other white grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in Lombardy may be added individually or together.
  • Capriano del Colle Trebbiano - also called Frizzante ( sparkling wine ): consists of at least 85% Trebbiano di Soave or Trebbiano di Lugana and / or Trebbiano Toscano . A maximum of 15% other white grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in Lombardy may be added individually or together.
  • Capriano del Colle Rosso , also called “Riserva” and Novello : consists of at least 40% Marzemino (locally also called “Berzemino”), at least 20% Merlot and at least 10% Sangiovese . A maximum of 10% other red grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in Lombardy may be added individually or together.
  • Capriano del Colle Marzemino - single variety: 100% Marzemino

Growing area

The cultivation is limited to the municipalities of Capriano del Colle and Poncarale in the province of Brescia .

Capriano del Colle Rosso

  • Color: ruby red
  • Smell: vinous, pleasant, characteristic
  • Taste: fruity, dry, harmonious, possibly with wood tones
