Valtènesi
Valtènesi are red and rosé wines that are produced west of Lake Garda in the northern Italian province of Brescia , Lombardy region . The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " ("Denominazione di origine controllata" - DOC ) since 2011 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.
Growing area
Cultivation is permitted in the municipalities of Salò , Roè Volciano , Villanuova sul Clisi , Gavardo , San Felice del Benaco , Puegnago sul Garda , Muscoline , Manerba del Garda , Polpenazze del Garda , Moniga del Garda , Soiano del Lago , Calvagese della Riviera , Padenghe sul Garda and Bedizzole .

The following types of wine are produced:
- Valtènesi - a red wine that must be made from at least 50% of the Groppello grape variety ( Groppello Gentile and / or Groppello di Mocasina ). A maximum of 50% other red grape varieties approved for cultivation in Lombardy may be added. No grape variety may represent more than 10% in the cuvée .
- Valtènesi Chiaretto - a rosé wine for which the same grape varieties are prescribed as for red wine.
"Chiaretto" is the local name for a rosé wine.

Valtènesi
- Color: ruby red, also intense, brilliant with possible garnet-red reflections with increasing maturation
- Smell: vinous, distinctive, the young wine can be fruity, after maturation also spicy
- Taste: tasty, fine, balanced, characteristic
- Alcohol content: at least 11.5 % by volume
- Acidity : at least 4.5 g / l
- Dry extract: at least 22.0 g / l
Valtènesi Chiaretto
- Color: more or less intense pink, sometimes with ruby red or slightly orange reflections
- Smell: characteristic, fine, intense, occasionally with floral or fruity tones
- Taste: from dry to sweet, fresh, tasty, fine, characteristic
- Alcohol content: at least 11.5 % by volume
- Acidity : at least 4.5 g / l
- Dry extract: at least 16.0 g / l
