Zeiss Research Award

The Zeiss Research Award ( spelling ZEISS Research Award , until 2013 Carl Zeiss Research Award ) is a prize for “outstanding achievements in the field of international research”. The award has been sponsored and awarded by the Carl Zeiss company since 2016 . It is to be awarded every two years.

history

The Carl Zeiss Research Award was launched in 1987 as an international award in the field of optics research and existed under this name until 2013. The award alternated every two years with the Otto Schott Research Award for special achievements in glass research. The Carl Zeiss Research Award was last endowed with 25,000 euros and was awarded by the Ernst Abbe Fund in the Stifterverband for German Science .

The Ernst Abbe Fund has been awarding the Carl Zeiss Award for Young Researchers for young scientists in the field of optics and photonics since 2016 .
