Karl Holsten

Karl Christian Johann Holsten (born March 31, 1825 in Güstrow ; † January 26, 1897 in Heidelberg ) was a Protestant theologian who worked as a university teacher in Bern and Heidelberg.

Life

Holsten studied theology and philology at the University of Leipzig , the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin and the University of Rostock since 1843 . In 1843 he became a member of the Corps Misnia Leipzig and the Corps Vandalia Rostock . Since 1852 he has been a teacher at the large city school in Rostock , and in 1853 he became a Dr. theol. et phil. PhD . As a teacher of religion, Greek and German, he stayed at the school for 18 years.

As a result of his work on the Gospel of Paul and Peter (Rostock 1868), he was appointed associate professor of theology at the Kirchenfeld grammar school in Bern in 1870 . The University of Bern set up a chair for him in 1871 . In 1876 he followed the call of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where he taught until his death.

He was married to Ottilie born on October 4, 1853. Kippe, a daughter of Gottlieb Christian Kippe .
