Carl von Münstermann

Carl von Münstermann (born December 20, 1843 in Werne ; † September 20, 1930 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf ) was a German hydraulic engineer , Prussian construction clerk in the improvement of civil engineering and university professor for cultural engineering .

Life

Carl von Münstermann came from an old civil servant family that was ennobled in 1804. After graduating from high school in Münster, he studied engineering at the Polytechnic School in Hanover and at the Berlin Building Academy . In 1864 he became a member of the Slesvico-Holsatia Landsmannschaft, later the Slesvico-Holsatia Corps, in Hanover .

After completing his studies, he entered the Prussian civil service. In 1868 he was appointed construction manager ( trainee lawyer ) and in 1875 master builder ( assessor ). At first he was involved in the construction of the Hamburg-Venloer railway and the sewerage system in Berlin. From 1882 he then worked in the renovation construction industry. As an amelioration building inspector, he designed and managed numerous amelioration projects in Silesia. In 1889 he was promoted to government and building councilor and in 1892 transferred to the Prussian Ministry of Agriculture, Domains and Forests as an unskilled worker . In 1896 he was appointed lecturer council . As such, he was initially responsible for all cultural-technical matters in Prussia, later in the province of Silesia and in the Rhine province .

Science and teaching

In addition to his work in the Prussian Ministry of Agriculture, Domains and Forests, he was involved in research and teaching in cultural technology. From 1892 to 1903 he was a member of the committee for investigating the water conditions in the river areas exposed to flooding. From 1893 he was a member of the examination commission for land knives and from 1902 of the Technical Higher Examination Office. From 1892 to 1902 he was a lecturer in cultural engineering at the Agricultural University in Berlin .

  • 1895: Awarded the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle, 4th class
  • 1896: Appointment as a secret building officer
  • 1900: Appointment to the secret senior building officer
  • 1902: Appointment as a member of the Prussian Academy of Building
  • 1905: Awarded the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves
  • 1912: Appointment to the real secret senior building councilor with the rank of councilors first class
  • 1915: Awarded an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Hanover (as Dr.-Ing. E. h.) For his services to agricultural hydraulic engineering as part of his teaching activities
  • 1918: Appointment as an honorary member of the Architects' Association in Berlin on the occasion of the Schinkel Festival
