Carles Busquets Barroso (born July 19, 1967 in Barcelona ) is a former Spanish soccer goalkeeper and today's goalkeeping coach of the second team of FC Barcelona .
He is the father of Sergio Busquets , who currently plays for FC Barcelona.
Career
The Barcelona football academy graduate Carles Busquets played his first professional game for FC Barcelona in the final of the 1990/91 European Cup Winners' Cup , which Barcelona lost 2-1 to Manchester United . In the following years he was only used for the second team of FC Barcelona, as Andoni Zubizarreta had his place in goal safe. On November 7, 1993 he came in the 2-1 win against Racing Santander for the first time in the Primera División for FC Barcelona to use. After Zubizarreta left Barcelona in 1994 for Valencia FC , Busquets rose to FC Barcelona’s first goalkeeper in the 1994/95 season. For two years Busquets remained the goalkeeper of Barças until after the 1995/96 season Vítor Baía and later Ruud Hesp was committed. As a result, Busquets became a substitute goalkeeper and only played five league games until his move in 1998. For the 1998/99 season, the Catalan joined the Spanish second division club UE Lleida , for whom he played 108 times by the end of his career in 2003.
After he was goalkeeping coach for the second team of FC Barcelona for seven years, he replaced Juan Carlos Unzué as goalkeeping coach for the first team in the 2010/11 season . After this season, Busquets was again goalkeeping coach of the B-team, as Juan Carlos Unzué returned as goalkeeping coach to FC Barcelona.
