Carlon Michael Brown (born October 4, 1989 in Riverside , California ) is a retired American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Brown first played as a professional player in the NBA Development League , before moving to the Israeli Ligat ha'Al at Hapoel Tel Aviv after a year in 2013 , where he became the league's top scorer . In the National Basketball League Brown plays he played at Brose Bamberg and Ratiopharm Ulm .

Career

After graduating from Martin Luther King High School in his hometown, Brown got a place at the University of Utah , where he played for the university team Utes from 2007 in the Mountain West Conference (MWC) of the NCAA . Under the new coach Jim Boylen, the Utes won the MWC championship tournament in the second year of 2009, but lost in the first round in the national NCAA finals tournament against the Wildcats of the University of Arizona . After another rather disappointing season for the Utes, Brown moved to the University of Colorado to coach Tad Boyle, who had taken over the Buffaloes college team . As a result of the college change, Brown suspended one year of championship games under NCAA regulations. Together with the Utah Utes, who had meanwhile also dismissed coach Boylen, the Colorado Buffaloes were accepted into the Pacific-12 Conference (Pac-12) in 2011. In the new conference they were able to win the Pac-12 championship tournament straight away and lost in their second game in the NCAA finals tournament against the Bears of Baylor University . After Brown was not selected in the NBA Draft 2012 by any club of the highest endowed professional league NBA , he was recommended for a contract with the Golden State Warriors via the 2012 NBA Summer League with the Charlotte Bobcats .

Brown's contract with the Warriors in Oakland only lasted a month until the end of the NBA 2012/13 pre- season , so he started his professional career in the NBA Development League (D-League) with the Warriors farm team from Santa Cruz (California) started. After six appearances in the D-League, the Warriors seemed to have lost interest in Brown at the end of the year and at the beginning of 2013 he joined the Idaho Stampede from Boise in a player swap . However, the Stampede missed the 2013 play-offs of the D-League after only 19 wins in 50 games . For the 2013/14 season Brown moved to the highest Israeli division Ligat ha'Al to Hapoel from Tel Aviv . In the second year after being promoted again, Hapoel achieved a positive season balance for the first time, but lost in fourth place in the play-off quarter-finals against Hapoel Eilat . Brown tried as top scorer in the Israeli league with an average of just under 20 points per game again in the NBA Summer League 2014, where he could not secure a contract with the Denver Nuggets for the actual NBA season.

Before the 2014/15 Bundesliga season , Brown signed a contract with German first division club Brose Baskets from Bamberg . After a serious knee injury shortly after the start of the season, Brown should not play another game for the future German champions. After successful rehab, Brown moved to Ratiopharm Ulm within the league for the 2015/2016 season . With Ulm he reached the championship final against Bamberg, but was plagued by knee problems again in spring 2016 and had to be operated on. Brown therefore missed the championship final and then no longer played at the performance level. In two years in the Bundesliga he only made 14 appearances. In February 2019, he announced the end of his professional career. Brown started his own business as a career advisor for athletes.
