Caspar Alexandri

Caspar Alexandri (born June 1623 in Putlitz or Kyritz ; † 28 or 29 September 1681 in Holzminden ) was a German lawyer and diplomat. He was Vice Chancellor and Privy Councilor in the Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel .

Life

Alexandri attended high schools in Ruppin, Tangermünde, Halle and Zwickau. He studied law in Wittenberg from 1645 and moved to the University of Leipzig in 1648 , where he became a Dr. jur. received his doctorate . In 1654 Duke August the Younger called him to the Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttelschen Hof, where he became a chancellery and took on diplomatic tasks. From 1661 to 1663 he was envoy for the Reichsdeputationstag in Frankfurt am Main and from 1663 to 1674 for the Reichstag in Regensburg . In 1664 he negotiated in Vienna regarding aid to the Reichstürken and in 1665 was active as a ducal envoy in Berlin. Alexandri was also accredited for the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin from 1669 to 1675 . He died at the end of September 1681 on a business trip in Holzminden and was buried on November 6th in the main church in Wolfenbüttel.

family

Alexandri married Margarete Schmid von Schmideberg in 1674. The son Johann Heinrich Alexandri († 1735), born in 1675, became councilor and vice chancellor in Wolfenbüttel.
