Caspar Baader (born October 1, 1953 in Basel ; legal resident in Gelterkinden ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

Life

After primary and secondary school in Gelterkinden , Baader completed the grammar school in Liestal by 1972 . He then studied at the ETH Zurich Agronomy (diploma in 1977) and at the University of Basel Law ( licentiate 1982). In 1985 he was admitted to the bar in the canton of Basel-Landschaft . Today Baader is a lawyer and runs the Baader & Baader law firm in Gelterkinden together with his brother Michael .

From 1983 to 1986 Baader was a member of the municipal council of Bannwil , from 1998 to 2014 he was a member of the national council , where he was a member of the commission for economics and taxes, which he also chaired. From 2001 to January 2012 he chaired the SVP parliamentary group in the Federal Assembly . Politically, Baader is assigned to the right wing of the SVP.

Caspar Baader is married, has three children and lives in Gelterkinden. In the Swiss Army he holds the degree of colonel .
