Eric Nussbaumer (born July 11, 1960 in Mulhouse , France ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

education and profession

Eric Nussbaumer grew up in Effretikon and Brütten ; from 1988 to 2015 he lived in Frenkendorf and since 2015 in Liestal . After graduating from secondary school, he completed an apprenticeship as an electrician . He then completed his studies at the Technikum Winterthur as an electrical engineer HTL, which he graduated in 1983. After working in French-speaking Switzerland , he spent a year with his family in the USA in 1987/88 and studied theology and ethics at the Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS) in Elkhart , Indiana. In 1988 he became managing director of ADEV Energiegenossenschaft , a company that invests in environmentally friendly energy systems. After his election to the National Council in 2007, he resigned his mandate as Managing Director in 2009 and has been President of the Board of Directors since 2010.

Political career

From 1992 to 2004, Eric Nussbaumer was a member of the community commission and from 1996 to 2000 of the business audit commission of Frenkendorf. From 1995 to 1999 he was Vice-President of the Basel-Landschaftlichen SP, from 1999 to 2005 he was its President. In 1998 he was elected to the district administrator. There he was a member of the National Economic and Health Commission , the Special Commission Parliament and Administration and the Finance Commission . In 2004/05 he also held the post of Vice President of the District Administrator, which he presided over in 2005/06. In 2007, Eric Nussbaumer ran as the second candidate of the Social Democrats alongside the previous Urs Wüthrich for the government council of the canton of Basel-Landschaft, although he only took sixth place, which was barely enough for a mandate. In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2007 , Eric Nussbaumer ran for the National Council, but the election result was not enough for a seat. Because his party colleague Claude Janiak , who was elected to the National Council and Council of States , renounced his seat in the National Council , Eric Nussbaumer was able to succeed. He now politicizes together with Susanne Leutenegger Oberholzer for the basel-landscape SP in the National Council and belongs to the Commission for Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy (UREK) and the Foreign Policy Commission (APK). His political priorities are energy policy and European policy.

In January 2013, the SP put Nussbaumer in vain as a candidate for the government council replacement election in March 2013 to succeed the free-spirited finance director Adrian Ballmer . If he were elected, there would have been a left-green majority in the Basel government for the first time.

Private

Nussbaumer is married and has three grown children. He is involved in the United Methodist Church and is the captain of the FC Nationalrat. He also does orienteering and jogging .
