Catrin Stepanek

Catrin Stepanek (born February 2, 1972 in Linz ) is an Austrian flautist , music teacher and music journalist .

Life

Catrin Stepanek began studying music at the age of eight when she received her first flute lessons. At the age of 13 she was accepted as a young student in the artistic base course (KBS) at the Anton Bruckner Conservatory Linz. She completed her subsequent studies at the Music Universities of Vienna and Graz and at the Amsterdam Conservatory , each with distinction. Well-known soloists such as Aurèle Nicolet , Peter-Lukas Graf , Jean-Pierre Rampal , Julius Baker , Jeanne Baxtresser , Jean Claude Gerard and Trevor Wye were her teachers in master classes that she took in Europe and the USA during her studies. In 2001 she received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association in Linz.

Stepanek is a member of two flutes and two harps existing " Quartet Fantastique" and the woodwind quintet "Pala Cinque" and participates in numerous concerts in Austria and abroad. She performs with orchestras such as the Linz Concert Association , the Linz Chamber Orchestra, the Leondinger Symphony Orchestra and the St. Pölten Music Association. She works as a substitute in the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and in the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and is the solo flutist of the “PhilHarmonices Mundi” and the “Ensemble Sonare Linz”.

As a music teacher, Stepanek teaches at the Music School of the City of Linz , the State Music School Leonding , worked at the Vienna University of Music in 1996/97 and looks after interns at the Vienna University of Music and the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz. In cooperation with the Upper Austrian State Music School, she acts as a flute mentor at the pedagogical department of the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and is a jury member in flute and chamber music competitions.

As a music journalist, she works with the Brucknerhaus Linz, the Upper Austrian Collegiate Concerts and the Attergauer Kultursommer.

Repertoire (excerpt)

Catrin Stepanek's repertoire ranges from baroque music to music of the 21st century, working with composers from Upper Austria such as Alfred Peschek , Helmut Schmidinger and Klaus Hollinetz . She has designed world premieres of her and other works.
