Cerebral Fix is an English crossover , death and thrash metal band from Birmingham , which was founded in 1986, disbanded in 1993 and re-formed in 2006. The band played together with other bands such as Sepultura , Cathedral , Candlemass , Obituary , Napalm Death , Sacrilege , Carcass , Benediction , White Zombie , Bolt Thrower , Paradise Lost and Suicidal Tendencies .
history
The band was formed in 1986. After the occupation of the post of bass player had changed several times, the band recorded the first demo in 1987, which was called We Need Therapy . Paul Adams played the bass. Shortly after the recordings, he left the band to found the band Reprisal, which was later to be renamed Benediction. After the second demo called Product of Disgust was released, the band reached a contract with Vinyl Solution Records .
In 1988 the group moved to Loco Studios in South Wales with Steve Watson playing bass. Together with producer Iain Burgess they recorded the debut album Life Sucks ... and Then You Die! on. This was followed by a tour of the UK with Bolt Thrower. This was followed by appearances with Deviated Instinct , Doom , Electro Hippies , Concrete Sox , Bomb Disneyland , Hellbastard , Energetic Krusher and Hard-On .
After that, drummer Adrian Jones and bassist Steve Watson left the band. Bassist Frank Healy and drummer Andy Baker, both previously with Sacrilege, joined the band as replacements. With this line-up they recorded the demo Tower of Spite and sent it to Roadrunner Records and got a contract with the label. This was followed by an appearance together with Sepultura in the Marquee Club , where both bands also stood together on stage and played a cover version of the song Protest & Survive by Discharge . In the summer of 1990 the band went to the studio to record the next album. The album Tower of Spite was recorded at Rhythm Studios with co-producer Paul Johnson . This was followed by a tour of Great Britain together with Napalm Death. At the end of the tour, drummer Andy Baker left the band and was replaced by Kevin Frost. This was followed by a tour of the Netherlands . He was then replaced by bassist Paul Adams and the band returned to Rhythm Studios to record the album Bastards . As a bonus song, the album featured a cover version of Smash it Up , originally by Damned , with Blaze Bayley as a guest musician.
After the album was released in 1990, the band toured the UK and Ireland with Obituary . In 1992 the band went back to the studio to record the album Death Erotica , with the band now under contract with Music for Nations . The recordings took place again in the Rhythm Studios with co-producer Johnson. Clint Mansell from Pop Will Eat Itself and Mark Greenway from Napalm Death could be heard in the song Never Again , a cover of Discharge. Shane Embury was on the song Too Drunk to Fuck , Andy Pike on the song Marshall Law and Tony Mills of Judas Priest cover Livin 'After Midnight . After the release followed a tour of Great Britain with Paradise Lost. After the tour, Frank Healey joined the band Benediction. Gregg Fellows also left the band. This was followed by a tour of Europe with Cancer . The members of the tour were Steve Watson, this time as guitarist, and bassist Jake Morgan (Discharge). At the end of the tour, drummer Kevin Frost left the band. Gregg Fellows rejoined and drummer Nick Barker ( Dimmu Borgir , Cradle of Filth ) joined the band as a tour member. The band made their last appearance in Walthamstow , London , on April 15, 1994. Simon Forrest took over the vocals, Steve Watson the electric guitar, Mark Culley the bass and Richard Mallatratt the drums. In 2006 the band got together again.
