Cetate is a Romanian municipality with about 2500 inhabitants in the Bistrița-Năsăud district in Transylvania . Cetate consists of the villages Orheiu Bistriței (German castle hall , Hungarian Óvárhely, 594 inhabitants), Petriș ( Petersdorf, Petres , 1164 Ew.) And Satu Nou ( Oberneudorf, Felsőszászújfalu , 742 Ew.).

Cetate is located in the foothills of the Transylvanian plateau on the edge of the Carpathians around 10 km southeast of the city of Bistrița . The highest point measures 1501 m, the north-west is hilly. There is a moderately continental climate with an annual average temperature of 5 to 6 degrees, with maxima in July and minima in January. Culture and population

Every year from April 10 to May 5, the community festival Laleaua pestriță (roughly: spotted tulip ) is celebrated.
