Livezile (until 1968 Iad ; German Jaad , Hungarian Jád ) is a Romanian municipality in the district of Bistrița-Năsăud in northern Transylvania .
In the historic Nösnerland , the place is about 8 kilometers east of Bistrița ( Bistritz ) in the valley of the river of the same name ( Bistritz ) .
history
The first known documentary mention comes from the year 1311. However, it can be assumed that the village existed before 1150 and was already settled by Germans ( Transylvanian Saxons ) during this time .
Around 1330 the population (according to papal tax lists) was already around 100.
In 1671 and 1685 there were Tatar and Turkish incursions and looting. In 1688 the danger was averted by the Turks, from now on Jaad belonged to the Austrian Empire . In 1750 the population was already more than 700. In 1838 a great fire broke out in which most of the houses were destroyed. Around 1900, many citizens of the Bistritz district emigrate to America, including some from Jaad.
On September 17, 1944, the Germans began to flee to Austria. Most of them were returned by the Red Army in 1945 .
church
Parts of the later Protestant church already existed before the Reformation , but over the years there was frequent expansion and renovation work. Around 1800 the church was raised, in 1831 two galleries were added, in 1860 the tower got a new bell chamber in the course of repair work. Sharvarius Valentin is said to have been the first Protestant pastor from 1561 to 1565.
school
The school building of the ev. (German) school was built in 1856.
