The Ceulemans Continental Cup 2018 took place from December 14th to 16th in Vigean, a suburb of the French wine town of Bordeaux . It was the first Ceulemans Continental Cup.

General information

The newly introduced Ceulemans Continental Cup is a three-band tournament in which Europe plays against Asia. In the winning team, each player will receive US $ 15,000 in prize money. The losers get US $ 5,000. The tournament will be broadcast live on Kozoom and the Korean sports broadcaster MBC Sports.

Tournament mode

Each continent has eight participants. These were selected according to the last world rankings in 2017. The game is played in a relay system with 600 points. Every day up to 200 points are played. These are divided into sections of 25 points. Player 1 from Europe and Player 1 from Asia play until one of them has reached the required 25 points. Then the players change. Players 2 continue to play with the same ball positions until one of them has reached 50 points and player 3 continues to play. There is only one pool table in the tournament hall. In an anteroom there are two more billiard tables where the players can play. This means that there is no break in playing when changing players.
