career path

She then attended the Bbw Academy for Business Management Training for a year and has been a sports soldier in the Bundeswehr since September 1, 2014 .

Athletic career

When Charlene Woitha was 17 years old, at the suggestion of her trainer, she switched from heptathlon to hammer throw , which, according to the teenager at the time, initially gnawed at self-esteem.

In 2008 she was the German runner-up with the team at the student all-around and block championships in the heptathlon, and after the reorientation to the hammer throw increased within a few months from 38.46 m in the summer of 2010 to the following spring to distances of over 50 meters.

In 2014 Woitha competed internationally for the first time, at the Winter Throwing European Cup in Leiria, Portugal, and finished fifth in the U23 with 65.03 m.

In 2015 a 6th place was added to the U23 European Championships in Tallinn .

In 2016 Woitha took 3rd place at the German Championships and was later nominated for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated in qualifying as at the European Championships in Amsterdam .

2017 was overshadowed by two injuries and an involuntary change of coach.

In 2018, Woitha and the team took 1st place at the Winter Throwing European Cup in Leiria , to which she contributed with an 8th place in the individual.

In 2019 Woitha became German hammer throw champion for the first time.

Woitha has been part of the perspective squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV) since the competitive sports reform and was previously in the B squad .
