Charles Amos Dice (also Charles A. Dice , born November 5, 1878 in Strasburg , Ohio , † May 27, 1969 in Columbus , Ohio) was an American economist .

Life

Family and education

The Methodist baptized Charles Amos Dice, son of John Dice and Catherine Amos Dice, studied after graduating from high school at the Ohio Northern University in Ada , in 1905 he earned the academic degree of a Bachelor of Arts . He then turned to study theology at Drew Theological Seminary in Madison , New Jersey , in 1908 he received his Bachelor of Divinity. Further studies took him from 1907 to 1908 to Columbia University , from 1908 to 1909 to Boston University and from 1915 to 1916 to the University of Wisconsin – Madison . He obtained in 1911 at Harvard University the degree of Master of Arts, 1924 he was at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for Doctor of Philosophy PhD .

Charles Amos Dice, a staunch supporter of the Republicans , married Anna Mary Schlott, who was born in Louisville , Ohio and who died on June 28, 1933 , on January 1, 1914 . Dice died in May 1969 at the age of 90 in a nursing home in Columbus, Ohio.

Professional background

Charles Amos Dice began his professional career teaching for three years at country schools in Ohio, and then spent two years as a principal in Richville , Ohio. Charles Amos Dice subsequently held professorships at Ohio Northern University and Rockford College in Rockford , Illinois . In 1917 he accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Colorado College in Colorado Springs , Colorado . In 1919, Charles Amos Dice accepted a call as Assistant Professor of Business Organization at the Department of Business Organization and Economics at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Dice, who was promoted to full professor, worked at the College of Commerce and Administration there from 1927, and in 1948 he retired .

Charles Amos Dice had memberships in the Advisory Board of Directors of the Ohio National Bank in Columbus, Ohio, in the American Economic Association , the Faculty Club and the fraternities Beta Gamma Sigma , Alpha Kappa Psi held and Tau Kappa Epsilon. The renowned institute for financial market research, the Charles A. Dice Center for Financial Economics, in Columbus, Ohio, is named after Charles Amos Dice, who was one of the leading stock market experts in the United States of his time.
