Charles R. Robertson

Charles Raymond Robertson (born September 5, 1889 in Madison , Wisconsin , † February 18, 1951 in Bismarck , North Dakota ) was an American politician . Between 1941 and 1943 he represented the first constituency of the state of North Dakota in the US House of Representatives , from 1945 to 1949 the second constituency.

Early years

In his youth, Charles Roberson helped his father run the family's farm in Columbia County , Wisconsin. At the same time he attended the public schools there. Later graduated from Charles Robertson, the Parker College in Winnebago ( Minnesota ). In the following years, he worked in various general stores in Minnesota and the Dakota states.

Congressman

Robertson became a member of the Republican Party . In 1940 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention and on the party's executive committee in North Dakota. In the 1940 congressional elections, he was elected to succeed William Lemke in the US House of Representatives. There he completed a legislative period between January 3, 1941 and January 3, 1943. After he was no longer nominated by his party in 1942, he had to surrender his mandate back to Lemke.

In the 1944 congressional elections, he was nominated for Congress in North Dakota's second constituency . On January 3, 1945, he succeeded the previous MP Usher L. Burdick . After a re-election in 1946, he was able to exercise this mandate until January 3, 1949. He was no longer nominated for the 1948 elections. His seat fell back to Burdick.

Another résumé

After his political activities in Washington had ended , Robertson returned to his business ventures in Bismarck. He also ran a paint factory in Washington. Since 1949 he was also a member of the Hoover Commission for the reorganization of the federal government. Charles Robertson died in February 1951 and was buried in Minneapolis .
