action
Aging gangster Charlie Valentine plans to steal from his boss, Rocco, to finance his retirement. With some old companions he breaks into a warehouse in order to steal protection money extorted by Rocco from a safe. The coup fails; When Charlie and his accomplices are surprised by Rocco's men, an exchange of fire ensues in which all of the accomplices are killed; only Charlie can escape. He escapes with Rocco's AC Cobra and goes into hiding with his son Danny, who works as a bouncer in a strip club in Las Vegas and occasionally collects debts for his boss Ferucci. Rocco wants revenge for Charlie's betrayal and puts his men on him. The eye-catching sports car leads Rocco's men on the trail to Las Vegas.
Although the father and son are estranged, Danny is fascinated by his father's lifestyle and asks him to teach him everything he knows about life as a gangster. Danny's friend Jenny fears that Danny could go back to prison as he is serving a suspended sentence; the differences over this lead to the separation from Jenny, who moves out of the common apartment.
Father and son plan a joint coup and, disguised in balaclavas, rob Ferucci's henchmen of a bag with extorted protection money. Ferucci becomes suspicious of the two, which is confirmed when Danny's attempt to blame one of Ferruci's debtors for the robbery fails. Rocco and his men - informed of the presence of Charlie Valentine by Ferucci - arrive at the strip club and confront Danny while Charlie escapes. Danny is beaten up by Dom, one of Rocco's men. Charlie - tormented by remorse on his escape for abandoning his son - returns to the strip club. There is an exchange of fire, which only Danny survives, seriously injured. Charlie dies in his son's arms after calling an ambulance.
Reviews
"Stupid violence, completely screwed up gangster clichés, coupled with a failed attempt to deliberately create profound dialogues, make Charlie Valentine a real test of nerves for fans of the genre."
“Aside from a great soundtrack with classic songs that are perfectly coordinated with the film, the film unfortunately doesn't really have much to offer. The story itself leaves a lot of scope to turn Charlie Valentine into a real genre tip, but unfortunately director Jesse V. Johnson missed this opportunity. "
