Raymond John Barry (born March 14, 1939 in Hempstead Village , New York ) is an American actor .

Life and accomplishments

Barry graduated from Brown University . He has appeared in over 70 plays and has won the Obie Award twice. In 1990 he received the Drama Critic's Circle Award .

Barry received his first film roles in the 1970s. In the thriller In the Year of the Dragon (1985) he appeared alongside Mickey Rourke . In the film drama Born on July 4th (1989) he played one of the bigger roles alongside Tom Cruise . In the horror episode film Three Roads to Death (1991) he played the role of Garrett , who competes in a car race against Billy ( Brad Pitt ).

In the thriller Falling Down (1993) he played the role of the police captain Yardley , who persuades the shortly before retirement police officer Martin Prendergast ( Robert Duvall ) to stay, although he does not trust Prendergast . In the thriller Die Kammer (1996) he played alongside Chris O'Donnell and Gene Hackman . In the fantasy comedy Flubber (1997) he took on one of the bigger roles alongside Robin Williams .

In the US crime series Cold Case , Barry took on the recurring role of Paul Cooper , the father of Lilly Rush ( Kathryn Morris ) mentioned again and again in previous seasons . Barry also plays recurring grandfather and father characters in the series Lost and Justified .
