Charly 2000

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Charly 2000 (bourgeois Wolfgang Pichler ; † September 24, 2014 ) was a German radio pioneer , television technician , radio presenter , DJ and discotheque operator . He was best known for his mobile discos in the southern German area of Baden .

Career

The trained radio and television technician's success began in 1987 with the radio station Euroradio Powerplay . The transmission center was then in France in Alsace and transmitted on the frequency 106.80 VHF . Because at that time radio and television were still produced and transmitted entirely analogue, the conception and operation of a radio station was a very demanding task that required a lot of experience and a lot of technical know-how. In 1989 , despite careful planning and implementation, Euroradio Powerplay was closed by the French authorities due to licensing problems.

Just one year later, Charly presented on the German broadcaster Radio Ladies First - this time with an impeccable license - and a short time later on Radio Regenbogen with a regular live broadcast program every Friday evening for a whole decade. After the turn of the millennium, the collaboration with Radio Regenbogen ended and Charly could only be heard again in 2010 on Hitradio Ohr .

He always ran several local discotheques parallel to his radio shows, such as the Fun Factory (from 2009 in Achern ) and the Codex Club (from 2010, also in Achern). Above all, however, Charly became known nationwide in 2000 with mobile discotheques; As early as the 1970s, he and his team were regularly present in the festival and multi-purpose halls of the Baden and Upper Rhine region with several trucks full of equipment . This presence continued into the time after the turn of the millennium.

At the end of the 1990s, Charly hosted his own TV show on Baden TV . He was in front of the camera with the Backstreet Boys , as well as with many other internationally known artists. His name and life's work are still inextricably linked to the southern German scene of the disco business and radio entertainment.

Mobile discotheque

The pioneering work of Charly 2000 in the mobile discotheque business has had a significant impact on the event and entertainment industry in the Upper Rhine region . The effort invested in this was enormous for the conditions at the time. Loudspeakers that covered entire gym walls were nothing unusual, as were the 168 kilowatt spotlights , which still worked with halogen spotlight technology .

“You can no longer imagine that today. At that time we had the largest mobile discotheque in southern Germany. We came with four seven and a half ton trucks, set up with five people, then did the event, dismantled immediately afterwards and drove to the next location, where we set up again. "

Local discotheques

These discotheques were operated temporarily by Charly 2000:

“At the end of the 90s, [...]› Charly 2000 ‹opened the disco› Charly's Fun Factory ‹above the Scheck-In Center. In the years that followed, well-known musicians such as Scooter or the Vengaboys made pilgrimages to Achern and were guests in the discotheque. [...] Charly has been active in nightlife for over 40 years [...] "
