The district of San Pedro de Chaulán is located in the southwest of the Huánuco province in the Huánuco region in central Peru . The district was established on May 16, 1936. It has an area of 275.06 km². In 2017 the population was 2789. In 1993 it was 5404, in 2007 it was 6903. The population is predominantly of indigenous descent with Quechua as their mother tongue . The administrative seat of the district is the village of Chaulán at an altitude of 3552 m with 604 inhabitants (as of 2017). Chaulán is located almost 30 km west-southwest of the regional and provincial capital Huánuco .
Geographical location
The district of San Pedro de Chaulán is located on the western edge of the Peruvian Central Cordillera . The district is bordered to the west by the Margos district , to the northwest by the Yarumayo district , to the northeast by the Quisqui district , to the east by the districts of San Francisco de Cayrán and Pillco Marca and to the south by the districts of Cayna and Colpas (both in the province Ambo ).
