The Amarilis District is located in the Huánuco Province in the Huánuco Region in central Peru . The district was established on June 1, 1982. It has an area of 134.69 km². In 2017 the population was 81,461, 10 years earlier it was 67,617. The administrative seat of the district is the city of Paucarbamba , located at an altitude of 1910 m on the right bank of the Río Huallaga opposite the regional capital Huánuco . Paucarbamba had 68,735 inhabitants at the 2017 census.
Geographical location
The district of Amarilis is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera on the right bank of the Río Huallaga and includes the catchment areas of three small tributaries.
The Amarilis district is bordered to the west by the district Pillco Marca , in the northwest on the district Huanuco , in the northeast on the district of Santa María del Valle , on the east by the districts Umari and Molino (both in the province of Pachitea ) and in the south by the district Conchamarca (in the province of Ambo ).
