The Chery Tiggo 3 is a compact SUV from the Chinese car manufacturer Chery Automobile . It is positioned between the Tiggo 3X and the Tiggo 5 .

It was shown formally for the first time in late 2004 at the Guangzhou Auto Show . At the market launch in China in mid-2005, the Tiggo was the manufacturer's only SUV. The vehicle was available with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a 2.4-liter gasoline engine. It was developed by Chery in collaboration with Lotus Cars and the MAE Corporation from Japan.

In 2007, a first facelift was presented in the course of which the model was renamed Tiggo 3 .

When the vehicle was launched on the market with the facelift from 2008, the Tiggo was offered with a total of three engines with a displacement of 1.6 liters (88 kW), displacement of 1.8 liters (97 kW) and displacement of 2.0 liters (102 kW). For the 2.0-liter version, there is an optional automatic transmission or all-wheel drive . All versions have driver and front passenger airbags and ABS as standard .

In 2011 it received the second revision. Since the facelift in May 2014, only a 93 kW (126 PS) 1.6-liter petrol engine has been available as a drive. The last time the Tiggo 3 was given a facelift was in 2016.

The car is manufactured under license as the Speranza Tiggo in Egypt , and as the DR 5 it is built in Italy . In Russia the model is known as the Vortex Tingo and in Iran as the MVM X33 . The Chery Cowin X3 based on the Tiggo 3 is also available in China . From 2011 the Tiggo 3 was offered in Australia as the Chery J11 .
