Career

Killen began his professional career at Manchester City , where he came only three times through substitutions. During his time with the Citizens of Wrexham and Port Vale, he was loaned out. In 2002 he signed with Oldham Athletic for £ 250,000. He scored 24 goals in 78 league games. In January 2006, Killen went to Hibernian in Scotland on a free transfer. In his first game he was able to score a goal in the sensational 3-0 of the Hibs against the Rangers from Glasgow at the Ibrox Stadium in the fourth round of the Scottish FA Cup . Four days later he marked the first goal in a 7-0 win over Livingston . Although he had only come in January, he already had five hits by the end of the season. He was also able to add himself to the list of goalscorers in the Hibs 5-0 win against the Latvian team FC Dinaburg in the UEFA Intertoto Cup on Easter Road .

With the departure of strikers Garry O'Connor and Derek Riordan at the end of the 2005/06 season, those in charge at Hibernian von Killen expected to take on even more responsibility.

After an outstanding season, Killen moved to Celtic on a free transfer to Glasgow .

He plays on the international stage for the All Whites , the New Zealand national team . Since his debut at the OFC Nations Cup on June 19, 2000 against Tahit, Killen has had an impressive hit rate in the national team, but was initially only used sporadically until he was later used regularly. In 2008 he was appointed together with Ryan Nelsen and Simon Elliott as one of three players over the age limit in the Olympic selection of New Zealand, where the New Zealanders took part in an Olympic football tournament for the first time. In a preparatory game for the Confederations Cup 2009 in South Africa, he scored two goals against world champions Italy. In the tournament, Killen was used in all three of New Zealand's games and also played an important role in the playoff success against Bahrain, with which New Zealand qualified for the World Cup.

He was also in the squad of national coach Ricki Herbert at the 2010 World Cup and was used in all three of the team's games.
