Chris Moran

Sir Christopher "Chris" Hugh Moran , KCB , OBE , MVO , FRAeS (born April 28, 1956 - May 26, 2010 in Oxford , England ) was a British Air Chief Marshal .

biography

Moran studied mechanical engineering at the University of Manchester after school and joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a cadet while still studying . After training as a fighter pilot , he flew missions during the Falklands War between April and June 1982 and then as a pilot on board the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious . In 1985 he took part in training with the US Marine Corps in North Carolina .

In 1994 he was promoted to Squadron Leader (Major) and appointed Commander of the 4th Squadron (No. IV Squadron) in the Federal Republic of Germany . In 1996 he was promoted to Group Captain (Colonel) . As such, he also became a staff officer at the headquarters of the 1st Air Force Group and then in 1997 site commander of RAF Wittering. After completing the Higher Command and Staff Course, he became a department director at the Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC) in Watchfield in 1999, where he also obtained a Master of Arts (MA).

He was then promoted to Air Commodore and director of the Air Force Staff. 2002 his appointment was made to the liaison officer of the Chief of Defense Staff of the British Armed Forces ( Chief of the Defense Staff ) at the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army in Washington, DC

In 2003 he became Air Vice-Marshal Commander of the 1st Air Force Group. After two years of service, he became Assistant Chief of the Air Staff in 2005 and a member of the Board of Directors of the Civil Aviation Authority.

In May 2007 Moran was promoted to Air Marshal ( Lieutenant General ) and as the successor to Lieutenant General DL Judd Deputy Commander at the command of the United Allied Forces in Brunssum ( Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum ).

Most recently, on April 3, 2009, he was Air Chief Marshal Commander-in-Chief Air Command (CinCAIR) and at the same time representative of the Chief of the Air Staff , Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton , the Royal Air Force Commander.

On December 31, 2009, Moran was beaten Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath and has since had the suffix "Sir". He was also the holder of the Order of the British Empire and the Royal Victorian Order and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society .

Moran participated in a triathlon at RAF Brize Norton Air Force Base on May 26, 2010 . After completing the 400-meter swim and 22-kilometer bike ride, he became faint during the 5-kilometer run and died shortly afterwards in an Oxford hospital.
