Christabel Oppong Oduro (born November 1, 1992 in Brampton , Ontario ) is a Canadian national soccer player .

Life

Oduro was born to Ghanaian immigrants from Kumasi , in Brampton , Ontario . In Brampton, Ontario , she attended St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School from 2006 to 2009 , before enrolling at the University of Memphis in the US in fall 2010 . Oduro is a cousin of the Canadian junior selection player Dominic Oduro, who grew up in Canada, and the former Waldhof Mannheim player Victor Oppong .

Career

Oduro started her active career in 1999 in the Bambini team of Brampton United FC. After two years, she left Brampton United and went to Dixie Soccer Club. In addition, Oduro was part of the Cardinals Women Soccer Team at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in Brampton from 2006 to 2009 . In her senior year of high school, Oduro made her debut in the W-League with the Toronto Lady Lynx. After Oduro scored three goals in 13 games for the Lady Lynx, she moved to W-League rivals Hamilton Rage FC. Oduro appeared in 20 games for Rage in two years, scoring eight goals before returning to Brampton United Flames.

On May 25, 2014, she signed with the USL W-League franchise Ottawa Fury , where she is one of the top scorers with five goals in twelve games .

Since July 31, 2014 Oduro has been in trial training with her compatriot Danica Wu , the women's Bundesliga promoter Herford SV . In the summer of 2015, she again completed a trial training session in Herford and got a contract with the Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga, relegated Herford SV, this time a contract. On August 23, 2015, Oduro made her debut for Herford SV and scored in the first round of the DFB Cup the 1-0 for Herford her debut goal. After scoring 10 goals in 20 games for Herford SV, Oduro returned to Canada in the summer of 2016 and has since played for Woodbridge Soccer Club. After scoring 12 goals in 13 games for Woodbridge in two months, she moved to Israel to join Ironi Ramat HaSharon in mid-August 2016, where she made her UEFA Women's Champions League debut against ZFK 2000 Sarajevo on August 23, 2016 . After half a year in Israel, she moved to Sweden in January 2017 , to the P18 IK , where she will play in Division 1 Södra Svealand with her compatriots Sarah Forde and Alyscha Mottershead . She returned to Canada in January 2018 and made her debut for the Calgary Foothills against So Cal Crush in the United Women's Soccer League on January 6, 2018 . Oduro played 10 games and scored 1 goal in the 2018 United Women's Soccer League. Before she returned to Sweden on January 8, 2019 and signed with IFK Kalmar for the 2019 season in which Elitettan signed.

National team

In March 2012, Oduro was appointed to the Canadian women's national soccer team for the first time . In the fall of 2012, she then played the U-20 Women's World Cup in Japan for the U-20s of Canada . Before Oduro made her senior international debut for Canada on January 12, 2013 in a friendly against China at the Olympic Sports Center in Yongchuan , Chongqing Prefecture .

Oduro played a total of two games for the Canadian U-18s, as well as nine international matches for the Canadian U-20 women's national football team.

Others

During her school days she played actively basketball and on the volleyball team for the St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School . At the school level as well as in various Ontario provincial selections . She was also a member of the track and field team in the cross country running team. Oduro played in various provincial national teams against the later women's Bundesliga players Mélissa Busque , Tiffany Cameron , Christina Julien , Kylla Sjoman and Danica Wu .
