Christina Marie Katrina Julien (born May 6, 1988 in Cornwall , Ontario , Canada ) is a former French-Canadian soccer player and current ice hockey player .
Career
Soccer
After playing for the Crusaders Women team during her time at Char-Lan District High School , she went to James Madison University in the fall of 2006 . After graduating from university, she returned to Canada and signed with Canadian W-League participant Ottawa Fury .
In April 2009, she left Ottawa Fury on loan and moved to the Laval Comets . After scoring eleven times in twelve games for the Comets, she returned to Ottawa Fury in early 2010 . On January 19, 2012 she was voted Ottawa's Soccer Player of the Year 2011 and moved to Jitex BK in the Swedish Damallsvenskan in spring 2012 . After she was there in ten games in the 2012 season, she announced in January 2013 her move to Russia for champions FK Rossijanka . For the 2013/14 season Julien moved to the Australian first division club Perth Glory . Down-under, Julien played nine games and scored two goals before signing for German Bundesliga club FF USV Jena on January 30, 2014 . The offensive all-rounder made her Bundesliga debut for Jena on February 23, 2014 in a 4-1 win over TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . In her sixth Bundesliga game for FF USV, she scored her first two goals in a 6-1 win over SGS Essen . On May 5, 2015, Julien announced her move to the first division promoted 1. FC Köln for the 2015/2016 season . After eleven games in the Allianz Women's Bundesliga for 1. FC Cologne , Julien left the club after relegation.
International
She made her first international A match at the age of 20 on March 5, 2009 as part of the Cyprus Cup in a 1-1 draw against New Zealand . With the Canadian national soccer team she won the Cyprus Cup in 2010, scoring the decisive winning goal in three games, as well as the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup 2010 , where she scored the first goal in an 8-0 win against Guyana . In 2011 she was able to repeat winning the Cyprus Cup and was appointed to the Canadian squad for the World Cup. It was used for the first time in the second game against France and was also used in the last group game against Nigeria , but was eliminated with Canada after three defeats in the preliminary round. After originally ending her international career in 2013, she announced her comeback in June 2014. She was nominated for the friendly against Germany on June 18, 2014 in Vancouver .
For the Olympic Games in London she was nominated as one of four substitutes.

Julien played ice hockey at the Char-Lan District High School in Williamstown ( Ontario ) until she was 18 and won the national championship in 2005 with the Ontario Red team. After interrupting her ice hockey career for football for several years, she did not return to ice hockey until 2016 and has been playing for the Melbourne Ice Women's Team in the Australian Women's Ice Hockey League since autumn 2016 . Julien, who was the top scorer in regular time with 19 goals and 13 assists, took bronze after beating Adelaide Rush in the game for third place. After a successful first season, the former Canadian national soccer player signed a new contract with the Melbourne Ice hockey team in the Australian Women's Ice Hockey League in July 2017 .
In March 2018, she won the Joan McKowen Memorial Trophy with Melbourne Ice , the title for the playoff winner. At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Julien was elected to the team council and was one of the three captains of Melbourne Ice. After being the top scorer of the regular season in the 2018/19 season, she and her team won the Joan McKowan Memorial Trophy for the second time in a row on March 9, 2019. On June 17, 2019, Julien signed a new contract for the 2020 season with Melbourne Ice , her fourth season with the club and second season as the team's captain .

As a Dean's List graduate, Julien studied movement science and computer science at James Madison University for four years .
After moving to Germany, Julien started a job as an English teacher in a kindergarten at G. Heckel Kindertagesstätten gGmbH in Jena. The Canadian wants to whip up her German there. She previously worked as an English teacher at the French-Canadian Leo Nickerson Elementary School in St. Albert , Alberta .
