Christel Loetzsch (born June 20, 1986 in Annaberg-Buchholz ) is a German opera singer with a mezzo-soprano voice .

Career

Christel Loetzsch passed the Abitur at the music high school in Karlsruhe. She then studied singing at the Liszt School of Music Weimar and then continued her studies at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatorio in Milan from October 2010 . She completed her master class / concert exam with Carola Guber at the “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” University of Music and Theater in Leipzig in spring 2018 “with distinction”.

She received impulses in master classes and lessons from Brigitte Fassbaender , Dame Gwyneth Jones , Manfred Jung and Catherine Foster . She is the holder of the Richard Wagner scholarship of the city of Weimar , the Carl Müllerhartung scholarship and the scholarship of the Cantilena singing competition of the Young Musicians Foundation Bayreuth.

In summer 2012 Loetzsch made his debut in a new production by Franco Zeffirelli as Zerlina in Don Giovanni in the Arena di Verona under the direction of Daniel Oren . In 2013 she made her house debut at the San Francisco Opera with great success in the role of Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte under the direction of Nicola Luisotti .

Loetzsch was a member of the Junge Ensemble at the Semperoper Dresden for the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons . There she made her debut in the roles of Hansel ( Hansel and Gretel ), Rosina ( Il Barbiere die Siviglia ), Cherubino ( Le Nozze di Figaro ) and Oberto ( Alcina ) as well as in the new productions of the operas Simon Boccanegra , L'impresario delle Canarie and Moscow, Tscherjomuschki and worked with directors like Axel Köhler and Christine Mielitz as well as with conductors like Christian Thielemann , Omer Meir Wellber and Constantin Trinks .

For the 2015/16 season Loetzsch switched to the ensemble of Theater & Philharmonie Thuringia Gera / Altenburg with numerous successful role debuts, including Octavian ( Rosenkavalier ), Maddalena ( Rigoletto ), Nancy ( Martha ), Ljubóff ( Mazeppa ) and Leokadja Begbick ( rise and fall of the city of Mahagonny ).

In 2018 she sang the first Wagner role of Fricka in the Ring des Nibelungen by Richard Wagner at the Landestheater Niederbayern .

In summer 2019 she made her house debut at the La Monnaie de Munt opera house in Brussels in the role of Witch in Macbeth Underworld , a world premiere by Pascal Dusapin . In November 2020 Loetzsch will most likely sing Penthesilea in Penthesilea by Pascal Dusapin in the Philharmonie de Paris with the Orchester de Paris .
