Christian August von Seel (born December 2, 1814 in Hamm , † February 27, 1883 in Pfaffendorf near Koblenz ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His parents were Reinhold Leonhard von Seel (1746-1818) and his wife Klara Maria, née Hoppe.

Military career

Seel attended high schools in Soest and Hamm . After graduating, he joined the 7th Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army on November 11, 1832, and from October 1834 he completed the United Artillery and Engineering School for two years for further training . In the meantime, at the end of September 1835, he advanced to the position of aggregate second lieutenant and, after being appointed artillery officer, was classified on January 26, 1837 with a patent from November 5, 1835. Seel rose to Prime Lieutenant at the end of January 1849 and was transferred to the 8th Artillery Regiment on June 18, 1853 and promoted to captain . From May 1, 1858 to June 28, 1859 he was an artillery officer from the square in Minden . He was then transferred to the 5th Artillery Regiment as battery chief and on March 17, 1863 he was promoted to major . This was followed on February 10, 1864 as commander of the 2nd division in the field artillery regiment No. 6.
