Christian Friedrich Georg Ludwig von Pastau

Christian Friedrich Georg Ludwig von Pastau (* 1737 in Dambeck ; † September 24, 1805 in Tilsit ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the 7th Dragoon Regiment .

Life

origin

The family comes from Swedish Pomerania . His father Adolph Friedrich Pastau was a Mecklenburg Cabinet Councilor and was knighted by the Kaiser on January 19, 1743.

Military career

Pastau visited the cadet house in Berlin from May 1, 1750 . On January 1, 1757, he joined the Dragoon Regiment No. 1 as a private corporal . During the Seven Years' War he fought in the battles of Prague , Kolin , Breslau , Leuthen , Zorndorf , Hochkirch , Liegnitz and Torgau . As an award for his behavior with Kolin, he was promoted to ensign on June 30, 1757 . On April 9, 1759, he was second lieutenant and on May 8, 1762, first lieutenant .

After the war, it was not until November 12, 1776 that Pastau was promoted to staff captain. As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession , where he was in battle near Brüx. In 1787 he was a member of the Prussian expedition army that was sent to Holland to fight unrest . For his behavior during the conquest of Freeland in Holland, he received the order Pour le Mérite on September 19, 1787 . On May 23, 1788 Pastau was promoted to squadron chief in Dragoon Regiment No. 1 and on May 30, 1791 to lieutenant colonel. In the following First Coalition War he fought in the cannonade of Valmy , in the battles of Pirmasens and Kaiserslautern and in the battle at the Kettericher Hof. On February 1, 1793 Pastau became a colonel and on December 8, 1793 regimental commander. On May 20, 1801, he was then appointed major general. Then on April 30, 1803 he became chief of the Dragoon Regiment No. 7. Pastau died suddenly on September 24, 1805 in Tilsit while he was busy organizing the mobilization.

family

Pastau married Magdalene Friederike Maria von Thun (* 1750; † December 15, 1795), daughter of General Otto Balthasar von Thun . The couple had the following children:

• Johanna Charlotte Friederike (1777–1809) ⚭ 1797 Karl Werner Friedrich von Plessen (1773–1828), district administrator, then lieutenant in infantry regiment No. 35 (parents of Hermann von Plessen )
• Otto Ernst Ludwig (born June 18, 1783 - † July 18, 1859), retired lieutenant colonel. D.

After the death of his first wife, Pastau married Christiane Juliane von Wackerbarth (* March 25, 1751 - May 30, 1825), widowed von Rüts, on March 9, 1800 in Schwedt / Oder .
