Christian Hauswirth (born December 23, 1965 in Saanen ) is a former Swiss ski jumper .

Career

Hauswirth's international career began on December 30, 1982 with the kick-off for the Four Hills Tournament 1982/83 in Oberstdorf . However, he was unsuccessful on his first tour and did not deny any further jumping in the 1982/83 season. For the 1983/84 season he started again at the Four Hills Tournament , but could not achieve a top placement again. It was not until January 22, 1984 that he was able to jump into the top ten for the first time in Sapporo, Japan, with ninth place and thus also jump into the points. In the second competition he also achieved a total of three World Cup points from the large hill with 13th place. Hauswirth ended the season in which he finished 52nd in the overall ranking at the 1984 Winter Olympics , where he finished 48th on the normal hill.

The 1984/85 season began with poor results in the Four Hills Tournament as in the previous year. Therefore, he broke off the season after the tour. Also in the 1985/86 season he only played the tour due to lack of success.

The 1986/87 season began more successfully for Hauswirth. At the season opener in Chamonix on the normal hill he achieved 4th place, the best individual result of his career, which he was only able to repeat once in the course of the following three years. However, it was also the only jumping of the season in which he could win World Cup points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf , Hauswirth jumped from the normal hill to 41st and from the large hill to 32nd place. In the team competition, he finished 11th together with Pascal Reymond , Fabrice Piazzini and Gérard Balanche .

The 1987/88 season was the best season of his career. Already at the Four Hills Tournament in 1987/88 he was able to achieve 4th place in the overall ranking and also scored World Cup points in all jumping. The best individual result he achieved in Oberstdorf with 4th place. Even after the tour, he was able to win World Cup points again in the World Cup competitions in Gstaad and Engelberg . At the Olympic Winter Games in 1988 he was again part of the Swiss squad and jumped to 48th place on the normal hill and 27th place on the large hill. In team jumping he reached 8th place together with Gérard Balanche , Christoph Lehmann and Fabrice Piazzini . After the games he jumped into the points again at the end of the season in Lahti and finished the season in 22nd place in the overall World Cup standings.

In the 1988/89 and 1989/90 seasons he could no longer build on his achievements and only rarely jumped into the World Cup points. At the ski flying world championship in 1990 in Vikersund he reached the 28th place tied with Martin Švagerko . After the 1989/90 season, Hauswirth ended his active ski jumping career.

In 1996 Hauswirth founded a transport company in his hometown of Saanen . He also looks after the children's and youth department in ski jumping at the Gstaad ski club.
