Christian Hierneis

Christian Hierneis (born November 19, 1963 in Munich ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). He has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament since 2018 .

Education and origin

Christian Hierneis is a qualified lawyer and has been an independent environmental consultant since 2003. Since 2010 he has been the managing director of the BUND Nature Conservation Foundation. He comes from a long-established Munich merchant family, whose founder, Otto Hierneis, as a royal Bavarian purveyor to the court, has been selling women's and men's underwear, sportswear, ties and gloves at Munich's Marienplatz since 1859. Christian Hierneis is also a great-great-nephew of the former court chef of King Ludwig II and delicatessen dealer Theodor Hierneis .

Political career

Hierneis has been a member of the Green Munich since 2008. From 2014 to 2018 he was a consultant for consumer protection, nutrition, genetic engineering and animal welfare in the parliamentary group of the Bavarian Greens. He is also the managing director of the Nature Conservation Foundation. In 2013 he ran for the first time as a candidate for the Bavarian State Parliament. He ran in the constituency of Munich-Pasing and received 11.3% of the first votes. He was placed 12th on the green list for the constituency of Upper Bavaria and reached 14th place with the total number of votes, so he missed the entry into the state parliament.

In the state election in Bavaria in 2018 , he prevailed in the Munich-Schwabing constituency with 34.9 percent of the first votes against former Minister of State Ludwig Spaenle and won the direct mandate. He is the spokesman for environmental protection and animal welfare for the Green parliamentary group. Hierneis is a member of the Environment and Consumer Protection Committee.

Volunteering

In 1992 Hierneis became a member of the Federation of Nature Conservation in Bavaria . In the environmental protection association, he has been chairman of the Munich district group since 2002 and was a member of the state board from 2004 to 2018. Hierneis was spokesman for NOlympia Munich and is spokesman for the alliance against the third runway at Munich Airport . In addition, he is the representative of BUND Naturschutz in Bayern e. V. for large carnivores (bears, wolves, lynxes), member of the large predators working group at the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection and co-author of the official Bavarian management plans for bears, wolves and lynxes, after having written a bear management plan for the BN in 2006. Christian Hierneis is a member of the State Association for Bird Protection in Bavaria and the Ornithological Society in Bavaria, in the Association for the Protection of the Mountain World.
