Christian Maximilian Spener (born March 31, 1678 in Frankfurt am Main ; † May 5, 1714 in Berlin) was a German medic , heraldist and genealogist .

Christian Maximilian Spener was born as the son of the theologian Philipp Jacob Spener . In 1697 he went to study medicine at the University of Giessen , where he obtained his doctorate . In 1701 he became court medical officer in Berlin and a member of the Royal Prussian Society of Sciences there . He was a member of the Berlin Collegium Medicum . On September 4, 1702 he was awarded the academic nickname Clidemus I. a member ( 251 Matriculation no. Of) Leopoldina selected.

From 1705 he was professor of physics (Philosophia naturalis), genealogy and heraldry at the Berlin Knight Academy . After Spener was active as senior herald's councilor in the Kingdom of Prussia in 1706 , he was appointed Count of the Court of the Palatinate by the imperial vicar August the Strong . King Friedrich Wilhelm I commissioned him to build an anatomy chamber. But he couldn't finish the job.

He was married to a daughter of the lawyer Ludwig Günther Martini .

In his honor Protorosaurus speneri was named, an extinct lizard from the copper shale .
