Christian Rösner (born August 20, 1969 in Bamberg ) is a German sculptor who specializes in animal and human figures.

Life

Rösner grew up in Munich and from 1991 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg under Professor Christian Höpfner . During his studies he won the class prize of the Academy of Fine Arts and took part in sculpture symposia in Lenora and Rostock . In 1997 he won first prize in the competition for the design of the Saumarkt in Gunzenhausen ; his plans were implemented. In the same year he became a master student. In 1998 he won another victory in a competition to design a new door handle and the old main portal of St. Clara Church in Nuremberg. Here, too, his plans were turned into reality. In 1998 Rösner, who now lived as a freelance sculptor, won the design competition Kunst am Brombachsee and since 2000 his lizard figure, a concrete cast based on a wooden template, can be seen on the southern bank of the Kleiner Brombachsee . In 1998 he also took part in the sculpture symposium in Georgensgmünd . A year later he won the debut award of the Bavarian State Government Show Saws at the Wald Holz Umwelt campaign in Nuremberg. In 2000, recordings were made in his studio for the series of studio visits of Bavarian television; the show was on January 6, 2001. Rösner was a participant in the wood sculpture symposium in Kronach in 2000 and won the first art prize of the Nürnberger Nachrichten in the same year .

Working in public space

In the spa gardens of Treuchtlingen there are the figures lurking (concrete cast after wood, installed in 1997) and If I were a bird (poplar, sawn, installed in 1999). The pig rider (bronze after clay, erected in 1997) can be seen at the Saumarkt in Gunzenhausen . The lizard (concrete cast after wood, sawn, erected in 1999/2000) is located on the south bank of the Kleiner Brombachsee near the dam between the Kleinem and Großem Brombachsee .

In 2008, the Room of Silence designed by Rösner was inaugurated at Nuremberg Airport . Since 2009, his wooden sculpture Steller and Manatee has been standing in the researcher's hometown. Bad Windsheim . In October 2011, a group of figures made of oak was completed in Rodgau ; The figures represent the five parts of the city, which together carry a wooden snake, symbolic of the connecting Rodau .
