Christian Siegfried von Krosigk (born January 4, 1700 ; † June 18, 1757 near Kolin ) was a Prussian major general , commander of the Dragoon Regiment No. 5 and heir to Hohendorf.

Life

origin

His parents were the Princely Anhalt District Administrator Aribert Siegfried von Krosigk (1665–1707) and his wife Susanne Katharina von Bodenhausen from the Gorzig family.

Military career

After the early death of his parents, Krosigk was an orphan at the age of seven. He began his training at the grammar school in Halle and then came to the Anhaltinisches grammar school in Zerbst , which he graduated in 1716. He then went briefly to the university in Frankfurt an der Oder , but as early as October 1717 he came to the Infantry Regiment No. 3 (Alt-Anhalt) as a flag junior . Shortly afterwards, Prince Wilhelm Gustav von Anhalt-Dessau brought him into his "Anhalt" cuirassier regiment . There he was on September 7, 1717 cornet , on October 7, 1724 lieutenant and on June 30, 1729 staff assistant master. On June 21, 1734 he received his own company. He was sent to advertise and then went on the Rhine campaign of 1734 as a volunteer. In 1737 he was back with his regiment. During the First Silesian War he was assigned to the camp near Brandenburg in 1741, and when this was dissolved on December 4, 1741, he was promoted to major.

During the Second Silesian War he was made lieutenant colonel on August 5, 1745 and joined the army of the Prince of Anhalt-Dessau . When the battle of Kesselsdorf broke out on December 15, 1745 , the head of the regiment in the army of the king and Colonel von Below was seriously ill. So Krosigk led the regiment on the right wing of the first meeting under the command of General Kyaw . In the attack he lost his horse, hat and wig. But he held up bravely and was awarded the Pour le Mérite by Frederick II . On July 13, 1749 he was promoted to colonel.

During the Seven Years' War he fought on October 1, 1756 in the Battle of Lobositz ; on October 3, 1756 he was appointed major general. In the battle of Prague he was in the corps of Prince Moritz von Anhalt-Dessau , which crossed the Vltava to stab the Austrians in the back. On June 18, 1757, he was in command of a brigade of three regiments at the Battle of Kolin . They managed to defeat the enemy cavalry, but Krosigk received two heavy saber blows to the head and was then fatally hit by a cannonball.
