Christian Theiss

Johann Christian Theis (s) (born January 15, 1802 in Gladenbach ; † October 27, 1873 ibid) was a Hessian businessman and politician and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Christian Theiss was the son of the grocer and host Jacob Theiss and his wife Philippine, nee Völker. Theiss, who was a Protestant, was a merchant in Gladenbach and married Christine Louise née Jüngst in her first marriage and Wilhemine Louise née Lang in her second marriage.

From 1849 to 1850 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency of Oberhessen 4 / Gladenbach . From 1868 to 1871 he was a member of the Nassau municipal parliament for the Biedenkopf district, in whose district he sat until his death. In the municipal parliament he was a member of the submission and Landesbank special committee. In 1871 he lost his mandate by drawing lots. His son Adolf Theis (1842–1924) was later also a member of the district council and a member of the municipal parliament and state committee.
