Wilhelm Dubislav von Natzmer (born May 28, 1770 in Vellin , † May 12, 1842 in Danzig ) was a Prussian major general and lastly vice- commander of the Danzig fortress .

Life

origin

He came from the old soldier family Natzmer , from which the Field Marshal Dubislav Gneomar von Natzmer (1654-1739) also emerged. His father was Wolf Heinrich von Natzmer (1735–1787) from the Rötzenhagen house, commandant of Kolberg , and his mother Dorothea Charlotte Hedwig von Natzmer (1749–1827) from the Bellin house. After the death of her husband, his mother married the later General Otto Ludwig von Wobeser . General Oldwig von Natzmer was his brother.

Military career

Natzmer came in 1784 as a corporal in the infantry regiment "von Lengefeld" of the Prussian army . There he became an ensign on July 12, 1787 and second lieutenant on December 19, 1789 . In 1794/95 Natzmer fought during the campaign in Poland near Skala, Suchaczew, Mitrowitz, Rawka and the siege of Warsaw . He became lieutenant prime minister on February 15, 1799, and staff captain on December 15, 1806 . During the Fourth Coalition War , Natzmer fought in the defense of Danzig and in the battles near Dirschau and Praust.

In Danzig he was second in command on the Hagelberg. For his work in defense he received the order Pour le Mérite on June 19, 1807 . On August 20, 1808, he came as a captain and company commander in the body Infantry Regiment no. 8 . On June 16, 1810 he joined the 1st East Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 1 as a major . On September 3, 1811 he was then appointed commander of the 1st East Prussian Grenadier Battalion. On 1 July 1813 he was transferred followed as commander in the 8th Reserve Infantry Regiment . During the wars of liberation he fought in the siege of Stettin , the battles at Großgörschen and Bautzen and the sieges of Magdeburg , Wittenberg, Landau and the storm on Wittenberg as well as the battles at Colditz, Waldheim and Wiesenburg. Natzmer acquired the Iron Cross II class at Großgörschen , for Bautzen he received the Order of Saint Anna II Class, at Wittenberg the Iron Cross I Class and finally the Order of St. Vladimir IV Class at Wiesenburg . He also became a lieutenant colonel on April 3, 1814 .

On March 31, 1815, he came as a commander in the 20th Infantry Regiment . For a short time, Natzmer was vice-commander of Mainz from June 26 to July 31, 1815 and then returned to his position as regimental commander. In this capacity he was promoted to colonel on October 21, 1815 . On April 29, 1821 Natzmer was appointed second commandant of Danzig. There he received on December 10, 1827 his farewell as a major general with the statutory pension . He died on May 12, 1842 in Danzig and was buried on May 15, 1842.

He married Charlotte Sophie Friederike von Kleist on October 16, 1797 in Wendisch-Karstnitz (* August 22, 1780; † May 12, 1842). The marriage was divorced in 1806. On May 26, 1809, he married Wilhelmine Friederike Helene von Burghoff in Berlin. He had two daughters from his second marriage; one married the banker Albrecht from Ratibor in Silesia, the second was named Charlotte Friederike Wilhelmine Helene Thekla (born March 13, 1810).
