Christian Wilhelm Haken (born July 12, 1723 in Greifswald , † December 20, 1791 in Stolp ) was a German Protestant pastor. He researched and wrote about the history of Pomerania .

Life

Christian Wilhelm Haken was born the son of a postmaster and his wife, a daughter of pastor Christian Tornow at the Marienkirche in Belgard .

Hook first grew up with his grandfather Christian Tornow in Belgard . After his death he attended the Gröning Collegium in Stargard in Pomerania from 1740 to 1743 . He then studied theology at the University of Königsberg until 1747 .

In 1748 he became pastor in Jamund near Köslin . In 1771 he was elected the first pastor at the Marienkirche in Stolp . In 1772 he was appointed head of the synod and head of the Stolper schools. Christian Wilhelm Haken died in Stolp on December 20, 1791.

Hook worked as a writer on the history of Pomerania . He was also involved in the editing and design of the quarterly journal Pommersches Archiv der Wissenschaft und der Flavor . In addition to his publications, he left behind a number of unpublished manuscripts on his death. Haken's interest in folk customs and the vernacular language of the Pomerania region makes him appear from a later perspective as an early representative of folklore in Pomerania.

His son Johann Christian Ludwig Haken (1767-1835) also became a Protestant pastor and worked as a writer.
