Christoph Erb

Christoph Erb (* 1973 in Schwamendingen , Zurich ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , bass clarinet ) who lives in Lucerne .

Live and act

Erb played in the 2000s a. a. in the band of trumpeter Manuel Mengis Group 6 and participated in his album Into The Barn ( HatHut Records , 2005). With the keyboardist Hans-Peter Pfammatter he formed the band project Lila in 2006 , in which Flo Stoffner (guitar) and Julian Sartorius (drums) also play and with whom he toured in Germany and the Netherlands. In 2007 he performed with his group erb_gut at the Schaffhausen Jazz Festival with Peter Schärli and founded the Veto Records label .

Erb worked in Chicago a. a. with Fred Lonberg-Holm , Jason Roebke and Frank Rosaly , with whom he recorded the album Sack (Veto). With Lonberg-Holm and Josh Berman he works in the Trio Bererberg ; Erb forms an electroacoustic formation with the Chicago musicians Jim Baker (piano) and Michael Zerang (percussion).

Prizes and awards

In 2005, Erb won the ZKB Jazz Prize with his band erb_gut . In 2006 he was awarded the City of Lucerne Prize for Work , and in 2009 a grant from the City and Canton of Lucerne for a studio stay in Chicago . In 2012 he received the recognition award of the Art and Culture Prize of the City of Lucerne .
